I began writing my column, Jonathots Daily Blog, on the Monday after Easter in 2008. I decided to do it every day, and to this point have not missed a one.

In 2009 I added a weekly epistle, which I send off to all of the pastors and just plain folks I meet as I continue to crisscross this great country of ours.

By December of 2012, I was itching to expand. and added another daily blog, called Words from Dic(tionary)–a way to more or less spoof Webster each morning on a word-by-word basis.

It was then–December 2012–that I landed on my Jonathots, Jr.! idea.

I have always had a penchant for sound bytes (and also love the English spelling of that word…) As a matter of fact, in one of my year-long writing projects, I went through a stint of creating “Top Five” and “Top Ten Lists” on a regular basis. (Two of those lists come easily to mind: the Top Ten Amish Pick-Up Lines and the Top Five Steps to Skin a Cat. Example: loosen paw fur…)

Honestly, it never crossed my mind to make Jonathots, Jr.! a daily blog, although I had every intention of writing one each day–a mission accomplished as of this morning, to the tune of 182 days. But it occurred to me that Jonathots, Jr., was being relegated (as so many Juniors in life ARE) to being a mere PAGE on a blog, and therefore might be unnecessarily missed by readers who would enjoy a daily thought in a sentence or two.

And so … we begin.

As of July 4th, 2013, Jonathots, Jr.! is his own blog.

I begin the event by sharing with you the entire opus–all 182 written thus far. On the morrow, I will proceed with ONE thought per day.

I look forward to it.
